SACM
sponsors credentialing and professional programs that enable credit
professionals to demonstrate their commitment to excellence in their
field. SACM is the only body which offers these designations. To
receive application forms or more information about any of the following
programs, please check below.
Professional
Designations
-
The Credit Business Associate (CBA)
signals mastery of fundamental business credit-related disciplines
such as business credit principles and introductory financial
statement analysis.

The Credit
Business Fellow (CBF) is an academic and
career achievement designation which illustrates that achievers
are knowledgeable about and have contributed to the field by
earning the CBA designation and completing additional course work. The
CBF signals competence in the essentials of finance, intermediate
financial analysis, the principles of management, business law, and
credit law. CBF designation applicants must have a minimum of five
years work experience in credit or finance, accumulated 75 Career
Roadmap points (determined by filling out the appropriate forms) and
pass the CBF designation proficiency exam.

The
Certified Credit Executive (CCE) is NACM's
highest designation, endorsing its achievers as capable of managing
the credit function at the executive level. Candidates must have a
minimum of six years (which increases to 10 years in Sept. 1996)
experience and have 125 Career Roadmap points. Candidates must pass a
rigorous four-hour exam which tests skills in accounting, finance,
domestic and international credit, management and law. CCEs are
required to recertify every three years until 60 years of age.
SACM
offers courses at all levels. The following are courses and programs
designed to enable credit professionals to improve their skills. To

Education Programs

Courses designed to
enable credit professionals to prepare for the CBA designation
proficiency exam are available through local NACM Affiliated
Associations. The Credit Administration Program (CAP) courses
are offered at affiliated offices or community colleges.

An advanced version
of CAP, called Advanced Credit Administration Program (ACAP),
prepares applicants for the CBF designation proficiency exam. ACAP
consists of courses in introductory finance, intermediate financial
statement analysis, business law, the legal environment of credit and
the principles of management, and they are available locally through
NACM-Affiliated Associations.
Self Study
Have you found that between your
responsibilities at work and home you cannot find time to attend a course?
NACM is proud to offer a comfortable solution with our Self-Study
program. Work toward a professional designation at your own pace or earn
CCE recertification points at home. Some course offerings include
Executive
Certificate Programs
If you are interested in earning a
certificate or concentrating on specific areas, SACM offers Executive
Credit Certificate Programs in targeted areas of credit and finance:

Credit
Management Leadership Institute (CMLI) offers
two, four-day certificate courses in the basics of credit and
collection principles and basic financial statement analysis. This
school is excellent for those seeking the CBA designation.

Managing
the Business Credit Function provides a
comprehensive understanding of credit investigation and policy,
nonfinancial analysis, collection procedures, and the Uniform
Commercial Code.

Financial
Statements I offers a foundation for
interpreting the components of a financial statement and understanding
financial ratios.

Mid-Career
School offers three, five-day resident
programs geared for professionals moving into positions of increasing
responsibility in the field and for those seeking a broader
understanding of finance, credit law issues, and intermediate
financial analysis. This program is geared for the CBF designation.

Essentials
of Finance includes the study of financial
markets, fixed-income securities, common stock and its valuation, and
short-term financing.

Financial
Analysis II includes a review of financial
statement analysis and equips participants to determine long- and
short-term debt paying ability, liquidity of short-term assets, and
profitability.

Legal
Environment of Credit offers a fundamental
understanding of the legal terms, conditions and demands of the credit
profession. The Uniform Commercial Code, antitrust laws, negotiable
instruments, and mechanics' liens are among the topics covered.

Advanced
Credit Executive Studies (ACES) is two,
five-day certificate programs for fast-track professionals seeking to
expand skills and move toward executive responsibilities. These
programs will improve your skills in treasury management and
international credit.

Basics of
Treasury Management investigates the
planning, analysis, and management of cash in the operating cycle and
its relation to the company's working capital policies. Cash
forecasting, temporary investments and lambda analysis are explored.

Fundamentals
of International Credit is designed to
assist those moving into the international credit arena by providing a
comprehensive overview of international export and finance.

Managing
Credit Risk is a joint venture between Arizona
State University's Center for Financial System Research and the NACM
National Education Department. It will provide participants with a
thorough understanding of risk management in the credit function
through improved monitoring of receivables, the use of simple hedging
strategies, and the analysis of credit policy.
Graduate School of
Credit and Financial Management

Is a promotion in
your future or would you like it to be? The Graduate School of
Credit and Financial Management (GSCFM) is designed specifically
for those preparing for greater corporate responsibility. This is an
intensive two-week, two-year program culminating in a case-study
presentation made to faculty and students. The first-year curriculum
consists of courses in advanced financial analysis, economics, law and
management. The focus in the second year shifts to corporate strategy,
human resource management, international credit, and treasury
management. The school is held in June at the Amos Tuck School of
Business at Dartmouth College.

A new Post GSCFM
program is designed to reunite GSCFM alumni to expand practical
knowledge of credit and finance. Selected graduate school faculty
return to present timely topics.
